Brewton will be lit up with holiday cheer this year.
The weekend after Thanksgiving is the target starting date for the light show in Dogwood Hills, Connie Baggett, Brewton’s director of program management for the city, said.
The light show will begin at dusk every night of the week and run until 10 p.m.
There will be a walking trail open every day and a train that will take viewers through the lights on Saturdays from 6-8 p.m.
Baggett said there will be snow in Dogwood Hills on the weekends and a snow slide on Saturdays, as well.
The city park will be decorated with a tree that will have ongoing lighting.
“This is the only one of its kind,” Baggett said. “South Carolina is the only other place in the South that has one.”
For those looking for a quieter experience, there will be a static light show in Jennings Park that viewers can walk through.
Overhead lighting has been added in Market Park, along with added street post lighting on US Hwy. 41 and Sowell Road.
Baggett said the Fisher Center will also be decorated with lights for the holidays.
“People all over the city can enjoy some holiday cheer,” she said.
All events are free for the public.
