The legendary Iron Bowl is upon us. The 82nd meeting between the University of Alabama and Auburn University will take place this Saturday, and the implications are as big as they can get.

Alabama is currently undefeated, and sits in the No.1 spot in the college playoff rankings. Auburn, winner of its last four games and coming off a blowout victory against then-No.1 Georgia, is on the outside looking in at No. 6.

The winner of the game will take on Georgia for the SEC championship.

A victory for Alabama will almost surely seal their quest for the playoffs, and knock Auburn out of contention.

With all of that being said, it should be a dogfight. Predicting the winner of this game is about as easy as predicting a coin toss, but the kids of Brewton Elementary and W.S. Neal think they have it down, and Alabama looks to be in for an easy victory if you ask them.

Braxton Banks, a kindergartener at WSNES, without hesitation said, “Alabama 65, Auburn 20.”

Brewton Elementary second grader Izzie Miller agreed with Banks on a blowout win, predicting the score to be Alabama 40, Auburn 10.

A.J. Williams, the son of WSNHS head football coach Andro Williams, took his time thinking about it, weighing his options and the strengths and weakness of each team, before finally coming up with a 35-14 victory for the Crimson Tide.

Tyshon Ammons, a second grader at BES rocking his Alabama sweatshirt, put his faith in the strong Tide defense, predicting a shutout with a 40-0 win for Alabama.

4th grader at WSNES, Jenna Stinson, agrees with Ammons about Alabama’s defensive domination, but expected a measly touchdown for Auburn in a 42-6 loss.

Justin Nettles, a first grader at BES, expects a close one. He predicts a late touchdown that will put the game out of reach and see Alabama hoist the trophy after a 30-20 win.

Between the kick six, the high-scoring comeback for Alabama in 2014, Auburn’s six-game win streak from 2002-2007, and Alabama’s Van Tiffin’s 52-yard field goal as time expired to win in 1985, these games are hardly a bore. If the kids of East Brewton and Brewton are right, we should again be in for a treat, (especially if you’re an Alabama fan.)
