Five people are behind bars after a narcotics investigation.

Brewton Police say a traffic stop on Feb. 27, resulted in five people being arrested for multiple charges including drug trafficking.

BPD arrested 33-year-old Amanda N. Salter, 30-year-old Jeremy K. Jackson, 29-year-old Amanda M. Ziglar, 28-year-old Autumn L. Ready, and 21-year-old Austin Bernier.

Brewton Police Chief Monte McGougin said officers located a backpack belonging to Jackson that contained approximately 12 grams of methamphetamine and seven pills containing amphetamine along with several paraphernalia items.

Officers also located a pill containing tramadol in the vehicle.

After a complete search of the vehicle, officers found a box that contained more than 30 grams of meth.

All were charged with drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jackson was also charged with an additional count of possession of a controlled substance.
