Tigers fall to Andalusia in opener

The T.R. Miller golf team opened up their 2018 season Monday in Brewton and missed a first place finish by 10 strokes to the Andalusia Bulldogs.
“We need to continue to improve overall our short games and putting,” head coach Marc Edge said. “In the matchup TRM took second with a combined score of 180 while the Bulldogs edged the Tigers with a 170. I thought overall we played well and did some good things,” Edge said.
For TRM, Donovan Weaver and Matt Wagner led with a score of 42 each. Todd Watson shot a 44 followed by Alex Gibbs 52. Edge said, “We need to continue to improve our mental approach to the game and focus on things that we can control and block out distractions that we can not control.”
For Andalusia, Adam Kilpatrick was the medalist as he led his team with a score of 38. Jack McCallman shot a 41 while Parker Kelley shot a 43. Xavier Dozier rounded out the Bulldogs with a score of 48.
W.S. Neal’s Brock Patterson placed third with a score of 68.
Edge said, “What makes our guys special could be applied to any sport or activity at TRM. They are good kids who try their hardest to represent our school, our community, and families. We are always proud to be a T.R. Miller Tiger.”
The Tigers next match will be March19, in Andalusia at 12 p.m.
