Nicholas Cody Nolan “Cody”

Brewton

Nicholas Cody Nolan, “Cody”, 22, of Brewton, passed away on Wed., April 11, 2018 in Century, Fla.

He was born in Brewton, and was a life-long resident of the Brewton and Flomaton areas. He was a member of the Flomaton High School Class of 2013.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, baseball, and basketball.  He was a great carpenter loving and enjoying working with wood. He was a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, and worked as a roustabout in the oilfield industry. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty Lambeth and was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his father, Shawn (Brandy) Nolan of West Monroe, La.; mother, Nicole (Josh) Barnes of Flomaton; maternal grandmother, Renee Smith of Flomaton; maternal grandfather, Bobby J. Williamson, Jr. of Wallace; paternal grandmother, Clarice (Barry) Barnes of West Monroe, La.; paternal grandfather, Charles Nolan of Brewton; maternal great grandparents, Bobby J. (Flora Mae) Williamson, Sr. of Brewton; maternal great-grandfather, Millard Lambeth of Brewton; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Watson of Brewton; six brothers, Tristan Wyse, Kaleb Nolan and Kohl Nolan, all of West Monroe, La. and Robert Samson, River Barnes and Zachary Edwards, all of Flomaton; and three sisters, Skye Nolan of Ocala, Fla., Brooklyn Nolan of West Monroe, La. and Charlie Jo Barnes of Flomaton.

Visitation was held Sun., April 15, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 1 p.m. until a  2 p.m. service time with Rev. Bobby Carnley and Bro. Chuck Scrivener officiating.

Interment followed in Lambeth Cemetery, Flomaton, with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were Zack Nolan, Abbott Thomas, Patrick Evans, Jeremy Lee, Andrew Terry and Brian Williamson.

Paul Ernest Lee

Brewton

Paul Ernest Lee, 79, of Sardine Road Brewton, passed away Sat., April 21, 2018 in a Pensacola, Fla. hospital after a brief illness. He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He was of the Baptist faith, a 1956 graduate of Flomaton High School, a member of the US National Guard, and a retired machine operator from Monsanto with 37 years of service.
He is survived by a son, Tim (Tonya) Lee of Brewton; two daughters, Teri (Buddy) Wesson of Tallassee, and Lisa (Carl) Powell of Daphne; a brother, John J. Lee of Pineview; three sisters, Mary Lassiter of Milton, Fla., Faye Godwin of Huxford, and Margie Parker of Brewton; six grandchildren and four great, grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Everlean M. Lee and a grandson, Lee Turner.
Visitation was held Mon., April 23, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Tues., April 24, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Speaker Ben Lee and Speaker Cody Turner officiating. Interment followed in Pineview Cemetery, Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Dr. James “Jimmy” Richard Dixon II

Brewton

Dr. James “Jimmy” Richard Dixon II, 55, of Travis Road, passed away Thursday April 19, 2018 at his residence. He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He was a member of the Jay First Baptist Church, and a 1981 graduate of Jay High School. He graduated from Kirksville’s College of Osteopathic medicine in 1993,  and was a family doctor with a practice in Atmore, with 24 years of service.
He is survived by  his wife, Mitzi Bray Dixon of Brewton; two sons, James Richard Dixon III of Charleston, S.C. and James Henry Dixon of Brewton; a daughter, Allison Paige Dixon of New York, N.Y.; his parents, Lynn and Ann Burgess Pitts of Brewton; his father, James R. Dixon of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; a brother, Daniel Pitts of Florida; a sister, Naomi Pitts of Gulf Shores; his mother-in-law, Carol Cecilla Bell Bray; his brother and sister-in-law, Derek and Misty Bray; and nieces Jordan and McKenzie Bray.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Pitts; his grandparents, Dauphin and Annie Laurie Burgess; an uncle, Ray Burgess and his father-in-law, Charlie Steve Bray.

Visitation was Tues., April 24,  from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Jay First Baptist Church in Jay.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wed., April 25, at 2 p.m. at the Jay First Baptist Church with Dr. George L .Fredricks Jr. and Pastor Bill Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date and time with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Sally K. McGowin

Brewton

Sally K. McGowin of U.S. 29, Brewton, passed away Fri., April 20, 2018 at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Pike County, a former resident of Andalusia, and a long time resident of Brewton. She attended the East Brewton Church of God, was a retired waitress, and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Sammy McGowin of Brewton; a son, Mike Williams of Rose Hill; four daughters, Faye (Tony) Raum of Georgetown, Texas, Joyce (Ebbie) Wilson of Evergreen, Deborah McGowin of Mobile and Stephanie (Samson Jones) McGowin of East Brewton; a brother, John Wayne Rolling of Gantt; eight grandchildren, Gary, Sharon, Kerrie, Nick, Michael Joseph, Rhett, Nathan and R.J. Jones; and 10 great, grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by, Chad, Ryan Dasher.

Visitation was held Sun., April 22, from 1p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Graveside services were held Sun., April 22, at 2 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Quick officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Cemetery Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Subrina Marline Barlow

Repton

Subrina Marline Barlow passed away on Fri., April 20, 2018 at her Repton residence.

She was born in Pascagoula, Miss. and had been a resident of Repton since 1995, coming from Los Angeles, Calif.  She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, John Wayne Barlow of Repton; two brothers, Otis D. (Shirley) Johnson of Range, and Don (Katie) Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Mary (Chester) VanDevender of Pascagoula, Sharon (Eddie) Wilson of Wiggins, Miss., and Glenda (David) Shackelford of Biloxi, Miss. and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date with Cravers Funeral Home directing.

Clarence Farras “Tunk” Nelson

Brewton

Clarence Farras “Tunk” Nelson, 55, was born to the late Chester H. Nelson Sr. and the late Nancy L. Spears Nelson, on March 11, 1962 in the Boykin community where he was raised and lived until God  called him home.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in the Boykin community, where he remained a member until his soul was called to rest on Sat., April 14, 2017.

He graduated from W.S. Neal High School in 1980 and worked a couple of jobs after high school. In 1989 he was employed with the Escambia County School Board of Education as a bus shop mechanic for W.S. Neal High School. He remained there until he retired in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Edward Williams.

He was a devoted brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He leaves to cherish his memory, six sisters, Dorothy (Willie J.) Jackson, Sandra Floyd, Cillar Davis, Sarah Nelson and Yolanda Nelson, all of Brewton, and Josephine Norman of Atmore; three brothers, Louis Nelson and Chester Nelson Jr.,both of Brewton, and Freddie Brown of Atmore; a fiance, Joyce Moore; a devoted friend, Ed Hines; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Sat., April 21, at 11 a.m. at Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Boykin with Rev. Thomas W. Broughton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker directing.
