For as long as he can remember Tripp Floyd has always been a baseball type of guy. He started at the age of 5 or 6 where he started playing baseball at the YMCA of Brewton and participated in the Babe Ruth little league.
Floyd is a Brewton native and a T.R. Miller graduate. When he graduated from TRM he further his baseball career to Coastal Alabama- North in Monroeville Ala.
With his hard work at Coastal he now gets another opportunity to continue to play the game he loves. Floyd has signed to play baseball with the University of Mobile. “I love baseball for it has been a big part of my life as a kid, and it’s a blessing to continue to play the game, Floyd said.
He was offered other offers but he chose UM. “My mom told me she knew I was going to choose the University of Mobile,” he said.
As an Eagle Floyd had 56 hits, 44 runs, 45 strikeouts and 26 walks. “A big thanks you to my parents, former coaches and God for giving me the ability to play baseball,” he said.
Floyd will be joining a baseball team that had a record of 42-17 this season. With Mike Jacobs as the head coach and Jon Seymour is the assistant coach.
His goals at UM are to win games and get his degree. He is majoring in business and has a 3.0 GPA. Floyd said, “My other goal is to be the starting pitcher for them as well. I also want to encourage and motivate the little league and younger kids that if you put in the time and work you can do this to one day.”
He will report to UM for a team meeting in August.
