In a game that was scheduled to be played Sunday afternoon but was rescheduled for Friday afternoon due to weather, the JDCC Warhawk baseball team dropped an 11-1 decision to Calhoun Community College.
The loss dropped the Warhawks to 4-4.
The Warhawks will be back in action at home on Wednesday when they take on East Central Community College in a nine inning and seven inning double-header game beginning at noon at Warhawk field.
In the game, the Warhawks were outscored by 10 runs and out hit 16-9 in the game.
Cordaro Lindsay led the Warhawks at the plate with a 2-for-4 showing as Fred Young picked up the lone RBI for the Warhawks in the bottom of the ninth inning when he scored Cody Sanderson who had reached base earlier with a double.
Everything the Warhawks hit was right at somebody on the Calhoun defense.
The Warhawks from Calhoun, led by former Jefferson Davis Community College baseball coach Jim Morrill, struck with three runs in the third inning and four in the top of the ninth en route to the win.
Starting pitcher Josh Presley went five innings for JDCC giving up eight hits and five runs while striking out five and walking two.
Four other JDCC pitchers saw action in the game as David Dean, Josh Benton, Robbie Carlson and Hunter Brown came in relief for the Warhawks.
JDCC was scheduled to take on Huntingdon Monday in Montgomery.
The team will be back at home Wednesday when they face off against East Central in a noon and 3 p.m. doubleheader at JDCC Warhawk field.
