Football season isn’t the only sport that has been in anticipation to kick back up.
Volleyball is also set for return.
Heading up the T.R. Miller volleyball team this year is Coach Terri Lynne Thompson.
Thompson’s girls, are hard at work getting set for the coming up season at Miller.
Over the course of the past few weeks they have been getting set for the upcoming season and have several leaders set to lead the team this season.
“I have a great group of seniors ready to lead the team this season. Mallori Floyd (outside hitter), Anna Grace White (outside hitter), Kaleigh Folsom (setter), Gabbi Solomon (defensive specialist), and Kennedy Harp (back row), have all been a part of the team for a long time,” said Thompson.
“These girls know what it takes to make it back to the state tournament. They have helped set the bar high for their teammates over the summer,” Thompson said.
The Miller volleyball team has been extremely successful in the past and last year, with a trip to the state tournament, and the team is not looking to slack up anytime soon.
Thompson is looking to speed up their offense this season and has been working over the summer with the girls to do just that.
“Our goal for this year is to make another appearance at the state tournament. The girls have been working in the off-season,” Thompson said.
Miller’s middle school, JV, and varsity teams are scheduled for a red and white scrimmage this Friday at 5 p.m., at the Miller gymnasium.
Brewton Middle Schools season kicks off against Thurgood Marshall on Aug., 28 at 4 p.m..
TRM’s season kicks off on Aug., 30, at 4 p.m. at the TRM gymnasium.
