Brewton City Schools approves $13M budget

The Brewton City School Board approved an $13 million budget for the budget year 2019.
The budget includes $7.1 million from state sources, $1.05 million in federal money, $4.8 million in local money and $29,000 from other sources.
Expenditures are expected to be $13.3 million.
Expenditures are broken down in:
• Instructional services at $6.6 million;
• Instructional support services at $1.6 million;
• Operation and maintenance services at $1.5 million;
• Auxiliary services at $645,740;
• General administrative services at $819,018;
• Debt services at $1.8 million;
• Other expenditures at $158,881.
The system will receive $293,609 more in foundation program funds than last budget year for a total of $6.8 million.
Total state funds have increased $287,300 to $7.02 million.
Total teacher units are 64.02 teacher units system wide.
Other highlights include:
General Fund expenses:
• Salary supplements/ benefits: $350,000
• Local salaries: $335,000
• Tuition reimbursement: $30,000.
• Career Coach: $7,000
• Career Tech: $150,000
• Auditing: $14,500
• Legal fees: $25,000
• Data Processing Service: $10,000
• Total General Fund expenses: $2.2 million
