A new pharmacy is coming to East Brewton.
Local pharmacist and business owner Danny Cottrell said Tuesday that with Fred’s Pharmacy closing, that they would open a new pharmacy at 304 Forrest Avenue across from the Shell station.
The pharmacy will be called Cottrell’s Hometown Pharmacy.
Cottrell said he has hired the three employees of Fred’s Pharmacy – pharmacist Shannon Raines Thompson and pharmacy techs Alex Walker and Renee Frazier.
“They are so familiar to our customers,” he said.
Cottrell said that it was a no-brainer to open in East Brewton.
“There’s a need and there are enough folks in East Brewton,” he said. “They are very loyal people in East Brewton. When given the opportunity, they support local businesses very well.”
Cottrell said they are working to open in mid-December.
“We had to knock out a few walls out and re-carpet it, and make it a little more secure for the pharmacy, and do the drive thru.”
Cottrell said they will also offer delivery.
When opened, they will be open Monday through Friday, but Cottrell said those with weekend emergencies could have their prescriptions filled at the Medical Center Pharmacy.
Cottrell said those who have Fred’s Pharmacy prescriptions can swap them to his stores, and his staff will help customers facilitate that move.
“We ask for East Brewton residents to be patient,” he said. “We are coming, and we are excited about opening in East Brewton.”
