Mr. Aubrey Hester Godwin, Jr., 86, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and longtime resident of Brewton. He was a former resident of Monroeville, where he worked as a Monroe County soil conservation officer for 27 years. He attended the Catawba Springs Baptist Church and was a member of the Alabama Cattleman's Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Lee Ellis Godwin.
He is survived by a son, Jimmy (Wanda) Godwin of Tallassee; a daughter, Linda (Reid) Luttrell of Brewton; four grandchildren, Todd Godwin, Jeannie Price, Jonathan Luttrell and Amy Luttrell Ray; two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Elder Wayne Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Springs Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
