Mr. P. A. Vandiver Jr., 87, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Brewton. He was a lifelong resident of Birmingham until 2005, when he moved to Brewton. He was a teacher in the Jefferson County and Birmingham City School Systems for 33 years and a charter member of Midfield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Claudia Faulkner Vandiver and a granddaughter, Maria Kay Parker.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham. Burial followed at 3 p.m. at the old Vanderford family cemetery at Lebanon Camp Ground in Spring Garden, Ala., with Jones-Ridout's Mortuary and Elmwood Chapel in charge of arrangements.
