Shirley Drew Sullivan, beloved by family, passed away on Oct. 15, 2018. Originally from Raymond, N.H., she was a resident of Castleberry, Ala. for the past many decades. Many remember her from Sullivan’s Grocery & Market in downtown Castleberry. Others remember the warm welcome they received at her home and table, all the neighborhood kids were regulars at her house. After attending Troy University, she served the community in various positions at Saint Margaret’s Hospital, became a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and worked for several years at the Radio Shack in Brewton, Ala.
She leaves this earth to join her husband, Milton Carr Sullivan; her parents, Florence Evelyn Clark Drew Brown and John Irving Drew; her step-father Glenn Francis Brown; her brother Floyd Irving Drew; and her infant sister Lois Drew. Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Nancy Evelyn Drew Mercier (Roland Mercier, deceased); her brother George Walter Brown (Sheila Underwood Brown); her three daughters, Starlinne Sullivan (Jerry Garrett, deceased), Marcia Sullivan (Dwayne Warren Godwin), and Mary Sullivan; her grandchildren, Jaimie Leighe Garrett Messer (Steve Messer), Lillian Michele Garrett Blackburn, Shannon Drew Garrett Robinson, Asia Jasmine Lee Sullivan, Lucas Sullivan Godwin, and Samantha Sullivan Godwin; her great grandchildren, Christina Helen Robinson, Tyler DeWayne Robinson, Jadin Xavier Harper, Garrett Channing McCarley; and her great-great granddaughter, Haisley Grace Haveard.
A celebration of her life will be held at Williams Memorial on Dec. 1 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for family and friends to honor her. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society, Saint Judes, or HEIFER International.
