Escambia County Sheriff’s office is currently searching for two escaped inmates from the work release building.
Sheriff Grover Smith would not confirm the names of the inmates, but said both were in the county jail on theft of property charges and violation of parole charges.
Smith said the inmates claimed they were too sick to work this morning.
Smith said that K9 tracking dogs were on the ground looking for those escaped.
Patrol units are in place at the intersection of Alco Drive and South Boulevard and an officer is in place at the Boulevard and Persimmon Street.
We will update as more information becomes available.
