Gina Castro has joined The Brewton Standard as a news and features reporter.

Castro is currently a senior at The University of West Florida and will graduate in December 2019.

While at the University of West Florida, Castro has served at editor-in-chief of Her Campus UWF, and increased its readership significantly.

She also launched and founded UWF’s first magazine, The Argonautica, and served as an intern for Pensacola’s Ballinger Publishing.

Locals will find Castro out and about at local events, meetings and more.

“We are extremely happy to have Gina join our team,” said Kendra Majors, publisher and editor of The Brewton Standard. “She brings with her a strong work ethic, incredible talent and skillset for a new journalist. We know that she will be a great fit for the Greater Brewton community and we know the community will love her.”

Castro is excited to join the team, she said.

“Hello, Brewton! I’m excited to be starting my career in the ever-growing city of Brewton. I hope my newbie status will be able to provide a fresh new take to Brewton news,” she said.
