A single-vehicle wreck involving an 18-wheeler shut down a section of Hwy. 41 north of Brewton for several hours Monday.

The incident occurred at the 17.4 mile marker.

According to the Alabama State Troopers, a 2014 Freightliner drive by Tyrone Shazel of Dothan was headed south on Hwy. 41, when the vehicle ran off the edge of the roadway.

Troopers say Shazel overcorrected and the vehicle turned onto its side.

The vehicle slid on its side and came to a stop blocking both lanes of roadway in a curve near Emmons Road.

Traffic was detoured from I-65 to Brewton via Lowery Landing Road to Appleton Road, and north via Tippens Eddie Road to Appleton Road.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
