Mr. John Eddie Ryan, 74, of Cobb Street Brewton, Alabama passed away March 15, 2019 in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. He was a longtime resident and native of Miami, Florida before moving to Brewton, Alabama. Mr. Ryan was of the Christian faith, a member of the Florida Carpenters Union and a retired general contractor.

Survived by his 3 sons John Eddie (Janie) Ryan, Jr. of Odom, Georgia, Rodney (Rhonda) Ryan of White, Georgia, and Kyle (Amy) Ryan of Woodstock Georgia; his daughters Tammera Smith of of Brewton, Alabama, and Stephanie (Daniel) Masselli of Coral Springs, Florida; 3 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.

CLAUDIA WILLIAMS LOWELL

EAST BREWTON

 

Mrs. Claudia Williams Lowell, 80, of Victory Street East Brewton, Alabama passed away March 15, 2019 at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Kiln, Mississippi, a former resident of Mobile, Alabama and a longtime resident of the Brewton/East Brewton, Alabama area. Mrs. Lowell was a member of the Gospel Light Temple and a retired LPN with 31 years of service having worked at Jay Hospital when she retired.

Survived by her two sons James Timothy Lowell of Brewton, Alabama, and Charles Lowell of Brewton, Alabama; her daughter Lisa Carolyn Odom of East Brewton, Alabama; 6 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

 

 

Family Memorial Services for Mrs. Claudia Williams Lowell will be held at a later date and time.

 

LONNIE TRAVIS “BARNEY” ROBERSON

FLOMATON, AL

 

Mr. Lonnie Travis “Barney” Roberson,70, of Flomaton, Alabama passed away on March 30, 2019 at Jay Hospital.

Mr. Roberson was a native of Pineview, Alabama and was a life-time member of the Flomaton community. He worked for Mundy Contracting Company as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing with his special fishing buddy, Robert Holt. Mr. Roberson was a member of Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He is survived by his wife, Laura A. Roberson of Flomaton, Alabama; son Brian Keith (Kim) Roberson of Mayport, FL; brothers, Leonard Roberson of Flomaton, AL, and William (Trudi) Roberson of Birmingham, AL; special nieces, Robin Clark and Niki Cook; special nephew, Tom Clark.

Visitation will be held on April 4, 2019 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 5 until 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on April 5, 2019 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rusty Burnham officiating.

Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Brewton.

Pallbearers will be Dick McNider, William Bell, Tom Clark, Bruce Heitleman, David Nolin, Randy Roberson.

ROBERT “BOBBY” MCCLELLAND

EAST BREWTON

 

Mr. Robert “Bobby” McClelland, 71, of East Brewton, Alabama passed away April 6, 2019 in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Bobby served in Vietnam as a Sgt. ES in the G Battery 65th Artillery in the U.S. Army. He was a gunner on convoys and was exposed to Agent Orange which ultimately lead to him developing Agent Orange Lung Cancer. Bobby was known for his love of his savior Jesus Christ, his family and his country. He was happiest when in the company of his family, and he looked forward to the annual trip to Disney World with them. He maintained contact with many veterans and provided emotional support to them. He was also known for his long hair and beard, and until the last few years, he loved growing a summer garden.

Survived by his wife of almost 52 years- Rebecca (Becky) McClelland; his 2 sons Robby (Deanna) McClellend and Christopher (Tami) McClelland; 5 Grandchildren Robert McClelland, Jr., Garrett McClelland, Rebecca Anne McClelland, John Ed McClelland, and Rayni McClelland; his brother and sister Jimmy McClelland and Mary McClelland.

 

 

 

Private family services and interment will be held at a later date.

GLEN DEVORY LEWIS

BREWTON, AL

 

Mr. Glen Devory Lewis was born on August 31, 1931 and passed on April 6, 2019 in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. He was a native of Berrydale, Florida and a lifelong resident of Brewton, Alabama. Mr. Lewis was of the Baptist Faith, a graduate of Jay High School, A Veteran of the US Navy and a retired Insurance Sales Agent from Escambia Insurance Company.

Survived by his wife, Dorothy Lewis; Daughters Wynell Garrity, Glenda Kyzer, Brenda Habaugh, and Teresa Lewis; 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held April 27, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Williams

SHIRLEY ELAINE SALTER

EAST BREWTON, AL

 

Mrs. Shirley Elaine Salter, 67, of Horton Avenue East Brewton, Alabama passed away April 5, 2019 at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Daphne, Alabama and a life-long resident of Brewton, Alabama. Mrs. Salter was of the Baptist Faith, attended W.S. Neal High School and a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.

 

Survived by a daughter and son Diana (Chris) Brown and Mark (Michelle) Salter; 2 brothers Larry (Judy) Salter, and Doug Salter;4 sisters Polly Golden, Diane Salter, Darlene Salter, and Martha Salter Davis; 5 Grandchildren Doug Leggett, Isabella Brown, Alexander Brown, Katelynn Bradely, and Rheyanna Davis; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Proceded in death by mother Lillie Ruth Salter; two sisters Francis Tague, and Sheila McCraken; and two brothers David Salter and Gary Salter.

 

 

 

Visitation will be held April 10, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home Brewton, Alabama.

 

Graveside services are scheduled for April 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Damascus Cemetery. Interment will follow in Damascus Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

 

REBECCA “BECKY” LYN SALTER

BREWTON, AL

 

Mrs. Rebecca “Becky” Lyn Salter, 56, of Tarra Lane Brewton, Alabama passed away April 7, 2019 in a Pensacola, Florida medical facility after a brief illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton, Alabama. Mrs. Salter attended W.S. Neal High School and was a former convenience store clerk.

Survived by husband Tim Ray of Brewton, Alabama; and son Timothy Ray.

Preceded in death by mother Lillian Salter.

KIRBY B. EVANS

BREWTON

Kirby B. Evans welcomed the Lord’s invitation and was reunited with his wife, Barbareeta, on April 6, 2019.  

He was born in Damascus, Alabama in 1921. He was the seventh of eleven children – he is survived by his sister Annie Hullett and brother Bernard Evans. At the age of 14, he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), where he and others were integral in the building of Little River State Park. Shortly after this, he met and married his wife of 69 years, Barbareeta Hendrix, just as the U.S. entered World War II.

After marrying Barbareeta, Mr. Evans was drafted into the Navy, serving on a Landing Craft Medium (LCM). He was holding this post on D-Day, when he and his crew landed over twelve times on Normandy Beach during the initial assault. After the war, Mr. Evans returned to Mobile, Alabama and began working at the Mobile Press Register for the next 37 years, retiring in 1983.  After that, he and his wife relocated to Brewton, where he worked as the janitor for T. R. Miller High School for some time.

Mr. Evans leaves behind a wonderful legacy of friends and family – sons Wayne (Betty) and Don (Cheryl), a daughter Molly Gragg (Terry); seven grandchildren – Tim, Lori, Jason, Kerry, the late Gary Evans, Scott, and Michael. To his children, he was deeply grateful for the benefit of having five great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition, the family expresses a heartfelt gratitude toward those who ensured Mr. Evans was cared for and comforted: Dr. James P. Wilson and Dr. William Doolin, both physicians and friends; the assisted living staff of The Meridian at Westwood; the hospice nurses with VITAS healthcare.

 

Visitation will be held April 13, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home Brewton, Alabama.

 

Graveside Services are scheduled for April 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

 

Little Milton Knight

Little Milton Knight was born to the late Charles “Bo” Knight and the late Elouise Woods on August 17, 1968. He departed his life on March 28, 2019.

Little graduated from W.S. Neal High School in 1986. He was employed with Lett Logging for several years, until his illness. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and sitting on his porch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Charles Knight Jr.; and 2 sisters Mattie Crook and Joette Knight.

Little was a devoted brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many, He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife- Dianna Flowers; 2 sisters Genevelyn (Ottis) Crawford, Montgomery, AL, and Veronica Knight, Brewton, AL; 5 brothers Ronnie Knight, Marcus (Shauna) Woods, Hubert Woods, Anthony Woods, all of Brewton, AL, Charles Lett, Evergreen, AL; 7 children Deidra Williams, Trae Williams, Germany Keiser, Daisha Flowers, Jamere Drakeford, all of Brewton, AL, Della Stallworth, Troy AL, and  Sharnice Boyd, Brewton, AL; 2 grandchildren Aubrei Stallworth and Journi Williams; mother in-in-law, Madeline Carr, Brewton AL; sister-in-law, Lillie Jones, Brewton, AL; brothers-in-law, Sylvester (McKatlan) Jones, Evergreen, Al, William Jones, and Samson (Staci) Jones, Evergreen AL; 2 uncles Willie Anderson, Pensacola FL, and Novella Richrdson, Repton, AL; a devoted nephew, Josh Night; a devoted friend, Hardy Littles; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2019 11 a.m. at Christ Kingdom Ministry Center Brewton, AL, with Elder Herman Bradely, and the Rev. Ellis Davis officiating.

 

MINNIE RUTH DAVIS BRADLEY

Minnie Ruth Davis Bradley was born on June 9, 1930, to the late Joseph and Clara Davis in the Johnsonville COmmunity of Conecuh County.

She was a lifelong member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

As a Christian servant she was faithful and active in church ministry by serving in the senior choir, Sunday school teacher, senior missionary teacher and president, founding member of the Inspirational Spiritual Singer (which became the Sandy Grove Inspirational Choir). She was also a member of the former Evergreen Community Choir.

Minnie Ruth was a member and served as the Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Johnsonville Chapter #868 for many years.

Mrs. Bradley was a homemaker and employed by the Conecuh-Monroe Community Action Agency for several years. She will forever be remembered for her infectious laughter, inspirational singing, and crafty sewing.

She was joined in holy matrimony, to Eugene Bradley on Oct. 17, 1947; who preceded her in death.

To this union was born 11 children; three of whom preceded her in death, Robert Lamar, Eugene Jr., Willie Edward, and one grandson, Jamar Bradley.

She later married J.B. Scott, who also preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories four sons: Samuel (Evernell) Bradley, Mobile; Delbert (Marie) Bradley, Dothan; Bryon (Rhonda) Bradley, Evergreen; Daryel (Alice Bradley, Brewton; four daughters, Sarah (Thomas Sr.) Brazile, Evergreen; Clara Anita Mcreary, Brewton; Cleopatra Ann (Willie) Anderson, Repton; Christine (James) Turner, Mobile; one daughter-in-law, Chrstine Bradley, Brewton; three brothers, Claude Davis, Irvington, N.J.; Joe July (Annette) Davis, Newark, N.J.; George (Voncile) Davis, Evergreen; three sisters, Cleopatra Williams, Evergreen; Gloria (Huey) McNair, Somerset, N.J.; Julia Warren, Detroit; one aunt, Katie Brooks, Mobile; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a godson, the Rev. Danny (Janice) Benjamin, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held April 6, at 11 a.m., at Sandy Grover Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Duran K Odoms, pastor and the Rev. Samuel Bradley officiating.

Presley Fluker Funeral Directors were in charge.

She was laid to rest at Sandy Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
