Willie “Bill” Earl Parker

Brewton

 

Willie “Bill” Earl Parker has passed away at age 83. He died in the early morning of Jan. 19, at a hospital in Pensacola, Fla. He was born March 12,  1935 to Leland and Rosa Lee Parker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Hart Parker and two of his sons, Kenneth E. Parker and Willie E. Parker II and his daughter-in-law, Leah Parker.

He is survived by his son, Leland S. Parker and daughter, Katrina Parker, his grandson, Lance Parker, granddaughter, Lauren Morris, great-granddaughter, Emmalynn Booker, grandson, Ian Parker (Chelsea), sister-in-law, Ginger Hise (David), brother-in-law, Elbert Smith and at least four generations of nieces and nephews.

He played football for W.S. Neal High School. He married Grace Hart on March 23, 1954, from Brewton. He joined the USMC and being between wars he played football for the Marine Corps.

After serving in the military, he started his family in Mobile, working as a brake mechanic for Sears and Roebuck for more than 20 years. During this time he bought at Harley Davidson, made lots of friends and enjoyed many road trips through the Smoky Mountains.

After a series of heart attacks and a severe heart condition he retired from Sears and moved back to Brewton. He did some truck farming, a lot of fishing, worked at the Farm Center and started a lawn business.

And if his old body could have kept up with his mind, he would have worked all the way to the end. Now he is at rest and with his wife and a lot of the family.

A memorial will be held March 23, at 2 p.m. at 315 Sams Lane, Brewton 36426.

 

PRENTICE LETROY LEWIS-RANKIN

BREWTON

 

Prentice LeTroy Lewis-Rankin, affectionately known as “Troy” was born July 7, 1998 in Brewton, Alabama to Kimberly Lewis and the late Michael Williams. Troy attended Brewton City Schools from kindergarten through sixth grade, and then went on to become a proud W.S. Neal Eagle from seventh grade to complete graduation in 2016.

Troy was an average boy wanting to be as active as much as he could be engaging in sports, starting at the age of 10 in baseball with the YMCA; just starting out Troy excelled fairly well…even ran out of his shoes a time or two. Troy then started Basketball with the youth leagues and then moved onto High School and became a Star player. Lastly, football Troy being the compassionate, humble young man having friends that attend the rival school did not want to break any hearts but still had to handle business when it came to Friday night business. His senior year, Troy made the winning touchdown that claimed the victory for his team in the Battle of Murder Creek and that was one of his greatest accomplishments to date.

Troy was an exceptional young man who was raised to respect and appreciate everything that anyone did for him…he added his own twist by doing so with such a sweet smile! He was such a happy person!! He tried to put a smile on everyone’s face! He had a way of turning what was the worst thing ever into something good!

After graduation, Troy attended Coastal Alabama College. Later was employed with Popeye’s and ServPro. Neither of those was the paths that he wanted…he decided he wanted to follow in the steps of his beloved grandfather, SPC Roger Lewis and Uncle, SFC Philip Lewis, and joined the Army. January 2, 2018 Troy departed to Columbus for Basic Training, through its rigorous drilling Troy completed and graduated. After completion of AIT school, Troy was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska at Fort Wainwright Army Base.

While stationed at Fort Wainwright, Troy was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division where he was an exceptional Trooper, amazing friend and teammate to the Blackhawk Squadron.

Troy will always be membered for his lovable personality, hardworking, helpful ways, generosity, extreme kindness, respect, and most importantly his good-natured smile and breath-taking dimples that could light up the darkest room.

Troy leaves to cherish his lovable, yet unforgettable memories his loving, devoted mother and best friend, Kimberly Lewis; loving grandparents, Roger and Alene Lewis; grandmother, Evelyn Daniels; one uncle, whom also resembled a role of a father, Philip (Lena) Lewis; two uncles, whom resembled the roles of big brothers, Roderick and Garrick (Angelique) Lewis uncles, Tlarence (Keela) and Dempsey (Tonya) Daniels; aunt, Ericka Daniels; his beloved little “Bubba” whom he absolutely adored, A’Mari Jayce Lewis-Benjamin; other siblings, Hillary Boyd, India (Vincent) Smith, Monte’ Morris, Mekhia Williams, Michael Smith, Aderius Smith and T’ Landria Williams and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

 

DORIS JEAN THOMPSON BULLOCK

BREWTON

 

Mrs. Doris Jean Thompson Bullock age 85 of Travis Road Brewton, Alabama passed away Friday March 29, 2019 at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Santa Rosa County, Florida, A former resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, and a long time resident of Brewton, Alabama. Mrs. Bullock was a member of the Cedar Hill Methodist Church, and a retired Custodian from W.S. Neal High School.

 

Survived by her son Dannie Lee Bullock, Sr. of Brewton, Alabama, her daughter Virginia Lee of Mobile, Alabama, brother Bobby Thompson of Brewton, Alabama, sister Elouise Agerton of Brewton, Alabama, and thirteen grandchildren April Lucas, Kimberly Ford, Dannie Bullock Jr., Angie Parker, Christopher lee, Allen lee, Virginia Mizell, Deanna Barefeild, and Ed Bullock.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Vernon Bullock, son Edward Vernon Bullock, daughter Lillie Jo Kirby, brothers Elmer Thompson, Richard Thompson, Bo Thompson, Jr., and Billy Thompson, and sister Juanita Partin.

 

 

Visitation will be held Monday afternoon April 1, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at WILLIAMS MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME BREWTON, ALABAMA.

 

Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday afternoon April 1, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at WILLIAMS MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME with Speaker Bernie Raines officiating. Interment will follow in Travis Church Cemetery Brewton, Alabama with WILLIAMS MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME OF BREWTON, ALABAMA DIRECTING.

 

BEAURESS DELAFOSSE

SARALAND, AL

 

Mrs. Beauress Delafosse, age 99, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at her Saraland, AL residence.

 

Mrs. Delafosse was born in Castleberry, AL and had been a resident of Prichard, Chickasaw, and Atmore before moving to Saraland.  She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Delafosse was preceded in death by her husband, Lenton Delafosse; her parents, Harrison and Cassie Gibson; two brothers, Wilber C. Gibson, William J. Gibson; and two sons, Hurley Delafosse and Gene Delafosse.

 

She is survived by  five grandsons, Steve Delafosse of Saraland, AL, Gene Delafosse of Chickasaw, AL, Richie (June) Delafosse of Saraland, AL, Tuak Delafosse of Bay Minette, AL, and Shannon (Marie) Delafosse of Fairhope, AL;  1 Grandaughter; Sandra Ann Delafosse of Mobile, Al; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 Great Great Grandchildren

 

Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 12:30 P.M. at Weaver Cemetery with Bro. Sam Dulaney officiating.

 

Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M.

ETHEL SUMTER MARTIN “MART” HENDERSON

SUGAR LAND, TX

 

Ethel Sumter Martin “Mart” Henderson passed away March 23, 2019 in Sugar Land, TX.  She was known as Mart by family and friends as she was growing up. Ethel was born April 17, 1922 in Keego, Rt. 2 Brewton, Alabama.  She was the only child of John Morey Martin and Ethel Augusta Martin. Ethel married George Jackson Henderson on December 24, 1941. They moved to Texas in 1947 where she lived the rest of her life.  Ethel is survived by their 5 children, George Jackson Henderson, Jr. and his wife Sandra Anderson Henderson, Morey Martin Henderson and his wife Linda Mackall Henderson, Ronald David Henderson, Sharon Kay Henderson Lippe and her husband Daniel Lippe, and William Douglas Henderson and his wife Nancy Lura Henderson.  Ethel had 10 grandchildren: Stephen Henderson, Robin Henderson Sherrill and her husband Kris, Martin Henderson and his wife Meaghan, Robert Henderson, George and his wife Rachel, Erica Henderson Hall and her husband Tyree, Caitlin Lippe Sansing and her husband Greg, and Lisa Lippe Armstrong and her husband Brian, Leslie Mackall, Donna Mackall Toto and her husband Scott; and 10 great-grandchildren: Randy Henderson, Ian and Rachel Sherrill, Julian, Lola, August, and Shep Henderson, Harvey Henderson, Lilly Sansing and Sawyer Hall.  She is preceded in death by her husband, George Jackson; daughter-in-law, Debbie Henderson; and great-grandson, Joshua Mackall. Ethel loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was proud of their achievement and was happiest when she could spend time with them. Ethel worked for many years in retail sales and retired from Foley’s in Sharpstown, TX in 1987. Ethel was honored with the Million Dollar Sales Award in multiple years. Ethel loved the beach and the annual family trip to Navarre. She loved to fish and did not care what size the fish were.  She hated lizards and snakes and would call one of her sons when a lizard would get in the house.

 

Ethel lived the last two years at Atria Assisted Living in Sugar Land.  She enjoyed the fellowship and the programs offered, especially the music programs.  But her very favorite Atria activity was the organized fishing trip to Lake Jackson.

 

To know ethel was to love Ethel.  She was a quiet soul.

 

There will be a visitation with family on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S. Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, TX 77477.  Ethel will return to Alabama and rest beside her husband in Brewton.

 

Funeral Services in Brewton, AL will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 2 P.M. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Chaplain Robert Price officiating.  Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.

 

JAMES WALTER WHITE

BREWTON

 

Mr. James Walter White, age 93 of Pineview Street in Brewton, passed away Tuesday March 26, 2019 in a Pensacola, Florida health care facility after a brief illness.  Mr. White was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County, AL, and was retired from the T.R. Miller box factory in the bookkeeping department. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Japan under the command of General McArthur.  Mr. White was a member of the Brewton First United Methodist Church.

 

Survived by daughter, Marsha (Clyde) Bear of Montgomery, Alabama; brother, the Rev. Thomas “Tommy” White, Sr. of Brewton; two sisters, Mary Lou Smith of Cottage Hill, Florida, Annie Laura Dubose of Brewton; six Grandchildren.

 

Preceded in death by his Father and Mother Johnnie L. White and Annie Bell Stone White; wives, Martha Gillis White and Barlice White.

Visitation will be held at Brewton’s First United Methodist Church on Sunday from 2:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M.

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 3:30 P.M. at Brewton’s First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating.  Burial will be private with Craver’s Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

 

Pallbearers:  Dwight Evans, David Rush, Matt White, Phillip White, Glen Smith, Danny White, and Donny Tucker.

 

Honorary Pallbearers:  Charles Everage, Ed Hines, Bernie Wall, and the Aldersgate Sunday School Class.
