Southern Union sweeps JDCC baseball, Warhawks now 12-10

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team went from 6-0 in conference play to 6-3 over the weekend after enduring a three-game sweep to Southern Union.
JDCC lost by scores of 14-2, 7-3, and 7-3 to fall to 12-10 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
JDCC 2, Southern Union 14
The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team dropped their first conference game over the weekend with a 14-2 loss to Southern Union in Wadley, Ala.
Southern Union scored five runs in the first inning and three in the second to take an early 8-0 and then added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 12-0.
JDCC scored runs in the sixth and the seventh innings as Southern Union scored two more runs to take the 12-run lead.
Hunter Brown got the start and the loss for the Warhawks as the other Hunter Brown on the Warhawks team came in relief.
Brown went 1 2/3 innings allowing eight hits and twelve runs (six earned), one walk and one strikeout.
The JDCC defense committed eight errors in the game.
Justin Reeves led JDCC at the plate with a 2-for-3 showing as Cordaro Lindsey and Cody Sanderson had an RBI each in the loss. Sanderson's one RBI was a homerun.
JDCC was back in action on Tuesday against Jefferson State, but will begin a four-game road trip on Wednesday before being back at home on Friday March 28 against Wallace State of Dothan.
Game time is set for 1 p.m. at JDCC Warhawk field in Brewton.
Game two: JDCC 3, Southern Union 7
In game two, Southern Union scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie and took a 7-3 win over the Warhawks.
Kyle Snedeker led JDCC at the plate as he went 2-for-3 and Greg Gomez had a RBI in the loss.
Derrick Young got the start and the loss on the mound for the Warhawks. Young went 7.1 innings and allowed 10 hits, seven runs (six earned), two walks and recorded no strikeouts.
Game three: JDCC 3, Southern Union 7
Game three was the same score and the same outcome for the Warhawks as they dropped their third straight game.
Gomez had a 2-for-3 showing at the plate for the Warhawks and Cordaro Lindsey had two RBIs in the loss.
After falling behind 1-0, JDCC took a 2-1 lead in the third inning before Southern Union tied the game at 3-3.
Southern Union took a 6-3 lead in the fifth inning and added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and took the 7-3 win.
Robby Carlson went six innings for the Warhawks and earned the loss. Carlson allowed six hits, seven runs (three earned) five walks and no strikeouts.
