SAY GOODBYE TO UNWANTED PILLS
The Brewton Police Department, The Drug Education Council and Zion Fountain A.M.E Zion Church will team up this Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. at the City Hall parking lot for the National Drug Take Back Day. This is an event where you can bring old prescriptions, or any drugs that are just sitting around, and of no use. You can pull up and drop off and there will be other useful information on hand. So please make plans to come out, said the Rev. Anthony Thames.

FREE FOOD
The Zion Fountain A.M.E Zion Church and Drexell & Honey Bees are teaming up each second and fourth Friday of every month to feed the community a fish and spaghetti dinner. The times are from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. All are welcome to come chit-chat, fellowship, eat and enjoy. Prayer will be offered to anyone who desires it, drug prevention and suicide prevention information will be given to anyone that desires it. “We look forward to seeing you at Drexell & Honey Bees on the 2nd and 4th Friday’s of each month,” Rev. Anthony Thames said.

EARTH DAY, Y’ALL
The cities of Brewton and East Brewton are sponsoring a community wide Earth Day cleanup in conjunction with Earth Day.
The event will be April 27.
The landfill on Jay Road will be open free of charge from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Locals may dispose of electronics – televisions, computer components will cost $7 per item, if by check or $7.25 if paid for by credit card. No cash will be accepted. Trash will also be taken.
No household garbage or chemicals will be accepted.
In East Brewton, the trash truck will be available for East Brewton residents. No tires will be accepted. Call 867-7998.
“In an effort to keep our communities clean, the Greater Brewton Area Chamber along with the cities of Brewton and East Brewton would like to invite you to participate in our Earth Day Cleanup,” said chamber executive director Judy Crane.
Additionally, locals pay dispose of the following:
• automobile batteries and oil at Auto Zone and O’Reilly Auto Parts;
• tires at the public works building on St. Nicholas Avenue. There will be a limit of four tires per household, and when truck is full no more tires will be accepted.

Other dumpster sites will be:
• District 1: Behind Farmers Furniture
• District 2: Hwy 41 west end
• District 3: J.L. Fisher Center
• District 4: East Jackson and Sowell Road
• District 5: Behind Arby’s
The cleanup is for residents only.

CRAWFISH AND MUSIC
Brewton’s Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual Kick it at the Creek event in Jennings Park on April 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
“Last year, we had an at-capacity crowd, and we hope for more this year,” Chamber of Commerce Administrative Assistant Debi Pugh said. “Kick it at the Creek is a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon in the beautiful Jennings park with family and friends.”
The event will have live music from blues singer Jordan Torrez. Pugh said she found Torrez on Facebook and loved his music. Torrez does cover songs, and he performed at last year’s Porchfest.
The event will have a children’s section. For food, there will be the annual $15 crawfish flat which comes with three pounds of crawfish, potatoes and corn. There will also be pizza by the slice, Pepsi products, 30 Below Ice Cream from Atmore and treats from Flour Sack Bakery.
If you head over to the Choo Choo Farmers Market, there will be more food options available there.
