Two Brewton residents received recognition as 2007 Citizens of the Year at the Greater Brewton Chamber of Commerce's annual awards banquet Thursday night.
Vicki Fussell and Terrence Breckenridge received their awards amidst a standing ovation as those who nominated them for the honor completed presentation speeches.
Fusell received the award, in part, for her work to raise the standards of social responsibility, according to nominator Beth Billy.
In her presentation speech, Billy extolled the virtues of Fussell and her commitment and dedication to make Brewton a better place.
Billy also read comments made by others who were involved in her nomination.
Billy concluded her presentation speech by summing up Fussell's philosophy for her work.
Fussell expressed her appreciation to the citizens of Brewton since becoming a resident in the city in 1991.
Susan Krehbiel took the podium to make the presentation speech as Breckenridge was named the business citizen of the year.
Breckenridge, who has business interests in three different endeavors, volunteers time and resources freely, Krehbiel said.
Breckenridge accepted the award presented by Krehbiel with words of appreciation.
