Fischer named ECHCA chief financial officer

Recently, the Escambia County Healthcare Authority (ECHCA) named Stephen Fischer as their Chief Financial Officer.
Fischer has been filling the position over the last year as the interim CFO. Mr. Fischer will be responsible for the areas of finance, materials management, information technology health information management and revenue cycle for the organizations under the Escambia County Healthcare Authority.
“The ECHCA is pleased Stephen will continue to support our health system in the permanent CFO role,” stated Chris B. Griffin, ECHCA CEO. “We are very fortunate to have someone with Mr. Fischer’s experience and credentials as part of our healthcare organization and I feel Stephen will provide the much-needed financial insight as we move forward with the development of our health system here in Escambia County.”
Mr. Fischer has approximately thirty (30) years of experience in both healthcare finance and healthcare administration holding multiple positions at several hospitals and healthcare systems in Kentucky and Indiana. His previous positions have included Budget/Reimbursement Director,
Finance Manager, Director of Finance, Associate VP of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fischer holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting from Ball State University and a Masters of Health Sciences from Webster University.
Mr. Griffin added, “Mr. Fischer has also played an integral role in the transition of Atmore Community Hospital from Infirmary Health System, the implementation of the Cerner Information Technology project at both D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital and Atmore Community Hospital, and the implementation of our new financial system across the system. I am very happy with Mr. Fischer’s decision to join our organization and I look forward to working with him on a daily basis.”
