D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital (DWM) is implementing the following policy for all patients and visitors effective at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 20.
The new policy prohibits all visitation by visitors of the DWM facilities. The only exception is for certain compassionate care situations including maternity and end of life. At this time, everyone will enter through the emergency room entrance of the hospital and will be screened. Hospital employees will continue to follow screening protocol prior to entering facilities.
As reported by Jason Daniel, director of public affairs and marketing for the Escambia County Healthcare Authority, there have been, “Zero confirmed cases at any Escambia County Alabama Healthcare Authority Facilities, including DWM, the Flomaton Medical Center or Atmore Hospital.”
All confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) are publicly available on the Alabama Department of Public Health website. In response to the policy update, Daniel stated, “Please be patient as we continue to navigate this emerging, rapidly evolving situation.”
