Mrs. Ellis Estelle Mitchell Washington, 79, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at a Pensacola hospital. She was a native of Conecuh County and had lived in Century for many years. She was employed for many years at Catawba Springs Baptist Church in McCall. She was a faithful member of St. Peter Baptist Church in Pollard where she was very active. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Oliver Chapter.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Washington; a daughter, Mary Ann Harden of Pollard; two grandchildren, William Harden Jr. of Auburn, and Carol Harden of Montgomery; three brothers, Willie George Mitchell of Quebec, Canada, John Davis Mitchell of Miss., and Carl (Ethel) Mitchell of Century; three sisters, Alice Nathan of Los Angeles, Calif., Mary (Jesse) Gardner of Columbus, Ga. and Hattie Mae (Cecil) Lett of Brooklyn, N.Y.; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Miller officiating. Burial followed at Pollard Cemetery with Christian Memorial Chapel of Atmore directing. Pallbearers were Jerrold Odom, Wiggins Washington Jr., Willie Earl Lewis Jr., Nicholas Lewis, Morrion Perryman and Tafari Osby.
