Coastal Alabama Community College will host a virtual graduation on May 8.
In lieu of an in-person graduation ceremony for the month of May, the college is recognizing graduates across all campuses.
According to Marketing and Communications office for the school, all graduating students’ names will be called, and each degree conferred. CACC is encouraging all students to tune in live and participate through social media using the hashtag: #CoastalGrad2020.
During this unprecedented time, students are encouraged to dress in cap and gowns. The college said that students may purchase a cap and gown set, use one from high school, borrow from a friend, etc., and are encouraged to be as creative as possible by decorating mortarboards and making personalized signs. Coastal Alabama’s social media team will repost photos and videos tagged with #CoastalGrad2020 through its social media channels so friends, families and other followers can celebrate right along with 2020 graduates.
This year’s graduating students still have the opportunity to participate in an in-person ceremony, all 2020 graduates will be invited and encouraged to return to join in rescheduled graduation ceremonies. These dates will be scheduled once the safer-at-home order has been lifted, and it is safe to return to campus. Each campus will also host graduate picture days when it is safe to return to campus.
The event begins at 7 p.m. on Fri. The community is encouraged to tune in.
