By 9 a.m. Saturday morning, more than 100 volunteers will be in the midst of creating a wonderland of color, fun and excitement as the annual Relay for Life gets under way.
A dozen teams will converge on the campus of the Greater Brewton Area YMCA to build campsites that will house them for the day.
Campers will have from 9:30 a.m. to noon to construct campsites.
The 12-hour event will continue throughout the day with entertainment by and for campers and visitors to help make the Relay enjoyable for everyone involved.
Although specific events are planned at strategic times throughout the day, Huff said the plans could change at any time.
At past Relay events, Relay Idol gives visitors to the event an opportunity to make a contribution to the American Cancer Society.
Huff said the fun is just part of the reason she works with Relay each year.
The event is open to the public and everyone is invited to drop by for a little fun and entertainment.
There is no admission charge to the Relay event, however donations of any denomination will be accepted, Huff said. Many campsites will offer a variety of beverages and food for sale to increase money raised at the event.
Luminaries will be available for purchase on the day of Relay.
Purchases may be made to honor someone who has survived a battle with cancer or in memory of someone who lost the fight.
Contact anyone on-site Saturday for details on making a luminaries purchase.
Saturday's tentative schedule is as follows:
9 a.m. - The opening ceremony and survivor's Lap
