Brewton's Citation Corporation location may see a slight increase in their workload after the company announced the awarding of a supply contract with Daimler Trucks of North America.
Kasuba said the Brewton facility will be used on a limited basis for the contract work that will mainly consist of parts for heavy- and medium-duty trucks manufactured under the Freightliner brand.
Although the new contract won't require additional hiring of employees at the Brewton facility, the contract award is seen as a good step for the company.
The awarding of the contract was announced last week officials with Citation Corporation headquartered in Novi, Mich.
Under the contract, Citation supplies Daimler Trucks, N.A., with engine brackets, chassis and suspension components for Freightliner trucks.
The components will be manufactured primarily in the Biscoe, N.C., and Columbiana facilities. Citation plants in Lufkin, Tex., Marion and Brewton, will provide secondary manufacturing support to the Biscoe division. Productions of the parts began in the first quarter of 2008 and are being shipped to all Daimler Trucks North America's assembly plants in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Citation has worked with Daimler Trucks North America LLC, for more than 20 years. The business has grown to be one of Citation's largest heavy-truck customers.
Citation is a privately held corporation employing 2,700 associates in Alabama, Texas, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina and Wisconsin.
The company designs, develops and manufactures high-quality cast, machined and assembled components for the automotive, heavy truck and industrial markets.
