A recent visit to the Brewton campus of Coastal Alabama Community College by Linda Williamson put a need at the front of her mind. It was a need she quickly filled by providing picnic tables for the college campus.
Williamson, president of Brewton Mill Federal Credit Union, went into action by contacting the Escambia Career Readiness Center to purchase tables made by the carpentry class at the school.
“We came to the college to have lunch at the Community Cup,” Williamson said. “When we were on campus I saw that there really wasn’t any outside seating. I knew the class at ECRC built picnic tables and knew we could get that need met on the campus.”
The tables have been placed under the trees adjacent to the Student Center.
Dennis Fuqua, campus director at CACC, said the tables will be a nice addition to the campus.
“We are appreciative for this donation,” Fuqua said. “Thanks to Brewton Mill Federal Credit Union, these tables will be a nice addition for our students and community to use while on campus.”
The construction of the tables is just one thing students learn while in the carpentry class at ECRC.
“It was just a good collaboration for us,” Williamson said. “We saw a need for those tables and knew that the high school students at the Center could provide a benefit for the students at the college. I’m happy to be able to make this donation and to provide something good for anyone who happens to visit the beautiful CACC campus.”
