The East Brewton City Council passed a resolution on Monday that will help secure funds for several paving projects in the future.
East Brewton Mayor Terry Clark said the resolution with Rebuild Alabama will allow the city to apply for grant funds to help with paving around the city.
“This will allow us to be eligible to apply for grant funds through the state,” Clark said. “We have several streets in the city that are in need of being repaved. This will show the state what our plans are and what the funds will be used for if we receive the grant.”
Among the streets considered for repaving are Gillis, Harold, Dailey, and others, Clark said.
Also Monday, the council approved a bid from Robbie’s Dozer and Construction Services of Evergreen to repave a portion of Victory Street at a cost of $35,870.
In other business, the council declared a house located at 207 Schad Street as a dangerous building. A public hearing on the future of the structure will be held at an upcoming meeting of the council.
Council meetings are held on second and fourth Mondays of each month at 5:30 p.m.
