Downtown, Mid Town and Up Town Brewton was filled with shoppers as area merchants participated in the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Holiday Kick Off event.
A drive through the city’s business district was evidence enough to know that the evening was a success.
According to Chamber President Mallory Hendrix, those participating businesses were busy for the kick off event.
“The holiday kickoff was a great night for all of our small businesses,” Hendrix said. “It was a great night to kick off the holiday season with lots of shopping and friendly faces. Businesses were booming and Santa was the popular guy to get your picture made with.”
Hendrix said the turnout of shoppers is proof that the community supports local business.
“We have a great community that supports all of our small businesses all year long not just at the holidays,” Hendrix said. “We business owners are very grateful and thankful to our community and speaking for the Chamber of Commerce, we’re happy to support the businesses too.
The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual event to promote shopping locally throughout the holiday season and into the new year. The next scheduled event of the group will be the annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 10.
