The Brewton City School Board is taking steps to ensure success of students as they prepare for the Alabama High School Graduation Exam.
Smith said the system's High Hopes Advisory Board members work in unison to make sure help is provided to those students who need it.
Smith also said the funds from the state, which averages about $5,000 annually, are used to pay for tutoring and summer classes as well as graduation exam supplies.
Members of the High Hopes Advisory Board include Becky Edge - T.R. Miller High School counselor; Donnie Rotch - T.R. Miller High School principal; Lisa Lovelady - T.R. Miller High School teacher; Wendi Huff - T.R. Miller High School PTO president/parent; Shabarba Williams - Hope Place Family Resource Center representative; Elizabeth Stokes - T.R. Miller High School student; and Dr. Baxter Baker - ex officio.
In other business during Monday's meeting, the board:
