Mrs. Ellen Farish Craver, 90, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at a local hospital. She was a native of Thomaston and a resident of Brewton since 1944. She was a graduate of Alabama College, Montevallo, and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She taught high school in Roanoke, Cuthbert, Ga., and at T.R. Miller High School and Jefferson Davis Community College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall P. Craver Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Larry) Bailey of Brewton; a son, the Rev. Marshall P. (Jan) Craver III of Mobile; a sister, Anita Hardy of Montgomery; eight grandchildren, Farish Dunn, Marshall P. Craver IV, John Craver, Amanda Tatum, Larry Joe Bailey, Greg Bailey, and Janie Bailey; and three great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Mathieu officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Lee Otts, Mike Godwin, Jim McCraken, Detrick Roberson, Scott Craver and John Craver.
