O’Bannon Park in Brewton will be filled with fun, music and activities this Saturday all in an effort to raise funds for medical costs for 2-year-old Gentry Garrett.
Garrett, who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, has spent most of his life in the hospital and has had two open heart surgeries.
Organizers for the event are hoping to raise funds that will help with costs associated with future medical care for the toddler.
Sherry Weaver, one organizer for the event, said the toddler is facing future surgeries as a result of his condition.
“Gentry lives in Flomaton with his parents Matthew and Angel Garrett,” Weaver said. “He’s been in and out of the hospital all his life and has already had two heart surgeries. He is also facing the possibility of a heart/liver transplant.”
Weaver said their will be plenty of fun for everyone at Saturday’s event beginning with entertainment at 11 a.m.
Scheduled to entertain are James and John at 11 a.m. followed by David Michaels at noon, Mancil Rock Mafia at 1 p.m., Tainted Lyric at 2 p.m, Jacoby Curry at 3 p.m., Weaver road at 4 p.m., Kenny Sticher at 5 p.m., Ben Murphy at 6 p.m. with Smoke & Ashes at 7 p.m.
Other activities will include a benefit ride for motorcycles and antique cars; an antique and late-model car show; a cake walk at noon, a cake auction, raffles and a corn hole tournament.
“We will also have good food for the day,” Weaver said. “We’ll have pulled pork sandwiches with chips and a drink for $8.”
Weaver said registration for the motorcyle/antique car ride will be $20 per bike or car with a $10 registration fee for any riders. Each registration will include a ticket for a free meal.
Registration for entry into the antique and late-model car who will be $20 per vehicle.
Kona Ice and Spider Man will also be on hand for the event.
