If you think a yard sale purchase doesn’t do much, you would be wrong.
On Friday and Saturday, members of the Paws Crossed Rescue group will be holding their fifth fundraising yard sale.
Edie Kelley said the event helps with financial needs for the animals they serve in the community.
“This fundrasier is one way we sustain the group financially through the summer,” Kelley said. “Summer is typically a slower time for adoptions, fundraisers and donations. All proceeds from this sale go toward our vet bills.”
Kelley said the items that will be up for sale will include items donated members of the community.
“All of the items are donated and come from our community,” Kelley said. “We collect the items beginning in January and continue collecting until the last week of May. If we have any items left over after the sale, we donate those to thrift stores for them to sell to help their charity work.”
Kelley said that past sales have gone well and go a long way to helping with expenses incurred by the group while helping dogs.
“On average, we make between four and five thousand during the sale time,” Kelley said. “We are looking forward to another great sale.”
The sale is being prepared for a 7 a.m. opening on Thursday, June 1. The sale will continue on Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will hold a final sale day on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The location for the fifth annual sale will be the same, 222 Forrest Avenue in East Brewton in the old James Brothers Furniture building.
For those unable to make it to the sale, donations can always be made directly to Brewton Animal Hospital under the Paws Crossed account, or you may donate by check or money order to 110 Wilson Street, Brewton, AL 36426.
