Need grows: Soaring grocery prices affect food pantries

With grocery costs rising, local food banks are facing a two-fold problem: They have greater needs and fewer resources.
Karen Cottrell, who works with the food pantry at Brewton First United Methodist Church, said she is seeing more people come in for food.
The pantry has a dire need for non-perishable items, Cottrell said.
Carin Diereks, coordinator of the First Methodist food pantry, said she expects the economy to have significant changes in their operation.
