The Gulf Winds Cares Foundation is partnering with the University of West Florida’s Louis Maygarden Center for Financial Literacy to educate students and community members on financing and shopping for a car.
The workshop will be led by Daniel Arney, Member Advocate Expert at Gulf Winds Credit Union.
The workshop will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, in Conference Room A at the UWF Conference Center. Attendees will learn about the car buying process from insurance, to financing, to shopping at the car lot.
Anyone interested in attending the workshop should register at https://uwf.edu/centers/louis-maygarden-center-for-financial-literacy/. Lunch will also be provided.
“Our foundation seeks to deepen existing community initiatives and uplift citizens whether young or elderly through financial education, mentorship, and assisting with basic needs,” said Kurt Stenerson, President of the Gulf Winds Cares Foundation. “The Center is a practical partner, as they do just that through their counseling and services to create positive cycles of financial health.”
The Louis Maygarden Center for Financial Literacy focuses on improving the financial health and well-being of all persons residing in the University of West Florida service area. The Center also offers credit counseling services to individuals contemplating life-changing financial matters. The Gulf Winds Cares Foundation makes an annual donation to the Center and hosts quarterly workshops to educate the community on financial literacy and topics relevant to their financial journeys.
“The Louis Maygarden Center for Financial Literacy and Gulf Winds Credit Union are deeply committed to improving the financial literacy of everyone in our region,” said Rachel Linn, Program Manager at the Center. “We accomplish this by partnering to host transformative workshops that benefit our community; our next workshop is a must-attend for car buyers.”
