A ‘big deal’ is coming to the Brewton area and the folks who manage Paws Crossed Dog Rescue couldn’t be more excited.
Jordan’s Way, a nationally-recognized fund-raising group, will be making a stop in Brewton on a tour of 300 shelters this year. The group will be at the Paws Crossed Shelter from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Paws Crossed volunteer Edie Kelley, said the stop in the community will shed light to many across the country about the plight of an animal rescue.
“This is a big deal for our area to be chosen,” Kelley said. “We are honored to have him come here and spend a few hours with us to highlight what we do and how bad the need is here.”
Kelley said the event will also be used as a platform for raising much-needed funds for the group.
“It is also a fundraising platform,” Kelley said. “We need to raise about $7,000 to finish our fencing. This is important so that we can keep our dogs contained and safe.”
Kelley said the event is open to the public and everyone is invited to be a part of this unique event.
“We are asking for city and county officials, business leaders and Paws supporters to come out and spend a few hours with us that day,” Kelley said.
Donations can be made on the day of the live event on Facebook or at anytime leading up to the event.
To make a donation, simply search for Paws Crossed Dog Rescue Of Brewton, Al on Facebook or JORDAN’S WAY fundraiser for Paws Crossed Dog Rescue Of Brewton, AL & Brewton Paws Crossed Dog Rescue, Inc. Either search will end with an opportunity to make a donation.
Along with fencing needs for the group, an on-going need to provide shelter, food and medical services is still a big part of the services they provide for lost, stray and abandoned dogs throughout the community.
The group continues to provide education, spay and neuter services as well as fostering animals while vetting them for adoption.
