When dozens of volunteers showed up at the shelter of Paws Crossed Dog Rescue on Saturday, they probably had no idea what was in store.
Throughout the three-hour live event, those volunteers were tortilla slapped, had cream pies in their face and even got hosed down as part of the activities aimed at bringing attention to the local dog rescue and the help raise needed funds.
Those volunteering to be part of the event were divided into teams to vie for the honor of earning the most donations.
Edie Kelley, one of the Paws Crossed organizers, said the many volunteers made the event fun, exciting and made donations of nearly $17,000 possible.
