With shovels at the ready, a group of United Bank officials, construction team and board members were on hand Friday to throw some dirt to initiate the construction of the newest banking facility for the Atmore-based financial institution.
On hand for the event were Brewton United Bank representatives Al Holley, Russell Barnes and Justin Jennings. Joining the local team were United Bank Board Members Danny Cottrell, David Swift, Jim Justice, Richard Stanley and Dale Ash. Hammer construction, the team set to build the new facility, had Ryan Baker, Bucky Busby and Ken House on hand for the event.
United Bank President and CEO Mike Vincent also took part in the ceremony.
The Brewton location of United Bank will be completed at 1515 Douglas Avenue and is expected to open sometime in October barring any construction or weather-related delays.
Al Holley, a lender at United Bank in Brewton, said the construction crews are already working on getting progress going.
“Work officially began on Friday with crews already clearing out some trees and stumps at the property,” Holley said. “Our projected completion will be sometime in October.”
Although the Brewton branch is already a full-service facility, the new construction will allow for better services.
“Once we get into the new building, we will have better availability of services that will include a drive-through,” Holley said. “We have four employees along with our branch manager, Russell Barnes and myself, and hope to be able to increase the number of employees in the future.”
Holley, who was part of the opening of the Brewton branch in 2026, said the community has been receptive and supportive of United Bank.
“I was fortunate to be one of the first loan officers to open up the branch here in 2016,” Holley said. “We became a full-service bank in 2017. We’re proud to be here in Brewton and to be of service to the community.”
Holley said that being in Brewton is a blessing.
“I was born and raised here,” Holley said. “I’m glad to be able to be at home to serve the community. Brewton has been very supportive of us and we are appreciative.”
The current location of United Bank in Brewton is at 821 Douglas Avenue. The new location, when complete, we open at 1515 Douglas Avenue. To reach the bank by phone, call 251-314-1510.
