With the conclusion of summer practices and the start of fall practices, W.S. Neal High School Eagle head football coach Blain Hathcock said his team is doing pretty good.
The Eagles went to two camps this summer. The first camp was a 7-on-7 camp at Trinity Presbyterian in Montgomery and a team camp at the University of Alabama. In addition to the two camps the Eagles went to, W.S. Neal worked out three days a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Hathcock said the transition for his players from summer work to fall work has gone pretty well also.
As of right now, the Eagles have seen a steady range of players of about 40.
While it has only been one week of practice for the Eagles so far, Hathcock has been impressed so far.
The inexperience of the Eagles this season, will play a huge key part in how the Eagles' season will turn out.
The Eagles still have two full weeks of practice left before their first game. During those weeks, starting positions will be determined. While, some are still to be determined, some have been decided on.
While the offense and other positions may be young and inexperienced, the defense for the Eagles will see the most experience.
W.S. Neal will have their preseason jamboree at home against Escambia County Thursday, Aug. 21 and will open their season the next Thursday at home against Monroe County.
