A Saturday night incident has left a Brewton man dead and authorities searching for those responsible.
The victim, identified as Aubrey “Mackie” Jackson, was found shot to death in an area along Appleton Road near the Conecuh County line.
Escambia County Sheriff Heath Jackson said the incident occurred in an area along Appleton Road just north of Brewton and was reported just after 9 p.m. on Saturday.
“Our deputies responded to an area along Appleton Road about a call of a white male subject lying on the side of the road,” Jackson said. “I responded along with our investigators. Once it was determined the man was deceased, the case began to be investigated as a homicide.”
Jackson said the investigation by his department has “all hands on deck” to determine the motive and the person or persons responsible for Jackson’s death.
“Anyone who may have witnessed anything or has any information concerning the case needs to call the Sheriff’s Office,” Jackson said.
Jackson did not reveal any information concerning possible suspects in the case saying the department would investigate all leads pertaining to the case.
As of press time on Tuesday afternoon, no arrests had been made in the case as the investigation continues.
