Escambia County Commissioner Larry White was elected as first vice president of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama, the statewide association that represents Alabama's county governments.
White is extremely active in ACCA and having previously served on ACCA's board of directors. Under the Association's board of directors' officer rotation, White is expected to become president in August 2009.
Recently elected ACCA President Joe Faulk, who has served with White on ACCA's board of directors, said he is confident in White's capabilities to serve the Association's membership well.
Other officers joining White on the Association's board include Elmore County Commission Chairman Joe Faulk as president of the Association, and Clay County Commissioner Ricky Burney as second vice president.
The Association of County Commissions of Alabama is a statewide organization representing county government in Alabama. ACCA promotes improved county government services in Alabama, offers educational programs for county officials and their staff members, administers insurance programs for county governments and employees, offers legal advice and represents the interest of county government before state and federal organizations and agencies. The activities of the Association are governed by a Board of Directors composed of three officers, past presidents and representatives elected from 12 Alabama districts.
