Brewton businessmen George Aust and Frank Nalty have teamed up to produce products for the kitchen that can make good cooks out of just about anyone.
Frank Nalty has begun marketing a specially formulated steak and marinade under the Nalty Seasoning name. The products are part of a partnership that includes George's Old Time barbecue sauces, rubs and marinades.
Nalty said his seasonings are available locally at Pic N Sav in Brewton and at Magnolia Superfoods in East Brewton.
Nalty said although the label calls the product a steak seasoning, it is good on more things than steaks.
Ingredients in the seasoning include onion, garlic, black and red pepper, salt and sugar.
The compliments of friends and relatives were a driving force behind putting the seasoning up for retail purchase, Nalty said.
Aust said his sauces and seasonings being marketed in retail outlets also came from compliments he received from family, friends and customers as well.
On the packaging for George's Old Time seasoning, the label gives a brief look at the background for Aust's products.
Nalty's seasoning doesn't give away any secrets but does explain how you might become popular by using the product.
Nalty said he enjoys cooking and has become known as a “trophy husband” among friends.
Aust even came up with a recipe he said helps working moms everywhere.
Aust said he has prepared the dish - recipe in the box at right - many times with a lot of success and compliments.
The slow-cooking method of the recipe is what makes the meat tender and juicy, Aust said.
Aust's seasonings are available at Burris' Farm Market and Sand Dollar Stores in Baldwin County and in Piggly Wiggly stores across Alabama.
