The W.S. Neal Eagles made a trip to the Sunshine State Friday to face the Marianna Bulldogs in a non-region game.
The game would be a battle for both teams with a great back-and-forth in scoring.
The Eagles would allow 2 Marianna touchdowns before making one of their own. They would put another TD in the books before the half but would also allow more points by the Bulldogs.
At the half, Marianna’s Bulldogs lead the Eagles, 34-16.
The second half of play brought some excitement as the Eagles turned up the heat. Late in the third quarter the Eagles would add more points to the board and close the gap, with 24 points to the Bulldogs’ 34.
The fourth quarter started with a Marianna TD putting them up 41-24 over the eagles.
But the Eagles would answer with more of their own points putting another TD in the books bringing their score to 30.
But, Marianna wasn’t done with another score in the books putting them at 49 to the Eagles’ 30.
Crook would make good on an Eagle pass to Stone covering 62-yards in the process to find another TD for the Eagles. The extra point fails, but the Eagles close the gap, 36-49.
That would be the last score of the night as the buzzer sounds to end the game.
The Eagles will be at home in East Brewton next Friday as they host Blountstown for Homecoming. Pre-game festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with kick-off at 7 p.m.
