Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is seeking volunteers to help with the free tax prep program called Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE).
Last year taxes were completed in Atmore, Flomaton and at the Poarch Creek Indian Reservation.
In years past, the organization has offered the same services for residents in the Brewton area of the county. However, the site for assistance was not opened in the 2023 season due to lack of volunteers.
“We were unable to open the site at the Brewton Library due to lack of volunteers but are hoping to be able to open it next year,” RSVP officials said.
Volunteers serve where they are able one or two times a week, according to officials with the group. Most sites are open 9a.m. to 1p.m. Positions needed this year are greeter, appointment scheduler, IT tech and tax preparer. There is a small stipend available. Computer literacy is needed for most but not all positions.
The informational meeting will be at the Flomaton Library on from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Oct 24th For more information call/text 251-236-3881 or email ktate@sarpc.org
