In what many are calling one of the most important elections of our time, voting will be possible for those who can get to the polls on Nov. 5 with special provisions for those who can’t make it to the poll on voting day.

A deadline for requesting an absentee ballot has been set statewide for Oct. 31 by close of business. Requests for voters who live in Escambia County must be made to the Escambia County Clerk’s Office by 4 p.m. on that date.

Ballots must be returned no later than end of business on Nov. 4.

Escambia County Clerk John Robert Fountain said those requests may be submitted by mail or in person by the deadline.

“Any ballots being returned by mail must be postmarked by Nov. 4,” Fountain said. “They must be received in our office by Nov. 5.”

Fountain said Alabama does not have early voting and absentee voting is the only alternative to voting in person on election Day.

Polls throughout the state will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
