Wieseman, family welcomed to Brewton

Kevin Wieseman was joined by family for a reception held to welcome the new Brewton City Schools Superintendent to the community. The event was held Thursday and presented at the main offices sponsored by Ward Scott Morris Architecture.
Wieseman became the newest leader of the system in September, replacing Dr. Kenneth Varner who resigned his post.
Wieseman most recently served as principal at Florence High School. He previously served as principal at Florence Middle School and Lee High School. He also served as director of athletics and extracurricular activities and director of instructional support with the Huntsville City School system.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in secondary education in biology and history, two Master’s degrees in administration and secondary eduction; an Education Specialist degree in instructional leadership; and an EdD in P20 and community Leadership with completion in 2024.
A large group of greeters was on hand Thursday to welcome the newest resident to the community.
Wieseman made his first big public appearance recently when he arrived by helicopter at the annual Battle of Murder Creek football game to deliver the game ball for the night.
Wieseman received the affirmation vote from the Brewton City School Board to take the position of superintendent from a field of five applicants vying for the position. Others considered during the interview process included George Brown III, Kyle R. Ferguson, Dennis Fuqua and Michael Turner.
