A review of upcoming city-wide activities was heard by the Brewton City Council Monday with a complete rundown of events from Brewton Program Manager Connie Baggett.
Baggett said a season filled with fun for residents of all ages would kick off with a “lighting of the lights” ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 30.
“The City Park downtown will be the center of the fun on Saturday,” Baggett said. “The lighting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. and will turn the holiday lights on al over the city.”
The downtown City Park will also be host to a party atmosphere on Saturday afternoon. On hand for the afternoon will be the T.R. Miller Choir, the snow machines will be in action and there will be vendors and a little hot cocoa to warm those at the park.
“Following the ceremony, Santa will be arriving at Jennings Park and the Elves will be at work at Dogwood Hills Park,” Baggett said. “This will be our first evening for CeleBrewton Lights that will continue through December 24.”
Festivities will be found in three parks — Brewton City Park on Belleville Avenue, Dogwood Hills Park on Douglas Avenue, and Jennings Park off Persimmon/St. Nicholas Avenue near downtown.
Activities will include snow machines, train rides, animated tree shows, and a walk through a Christmas village.
