County set to make new ECATS purchases

The Escambia County Commissioners agreed to make a purchase that will make transportation by ECATS better for the county.
In Monday’s meeting, the commission approved an amendment to the ECATS capital budget to purchase two transit vans at a local funding cost of $19,400 from the capital budget. The federal share for the purchase is $174,600.
The commission also approved the submission for the ECATS FY2026 5311 Federal Grant for additional funding.
In other business, the commission:
• approved the purchase of property at 317 St. Nicholas Avenue in Brewton (adjacent to the Escambia County Domestic Violence offices);
• adopted a resolution for the election of the Escambia County Commission Chair;
• adopted a resolution for the election of the Escambia County Commission Vice-chair;
• heard a report from the Engineering Department on the FY2024 work on roads in bridges across the county including Damascus Road, Hoomesville Road and Dixie Highway and a bridge replacement over Narrow Gap.
