Local students vie for State DYW title

Two students at T.R. Miller High School are in Montgomery this week to represent Escambia and Conecuh Counties in the Alabama Distinguished Young Women program.
Edie Walker will represent Escambia County while Jenna Fountain will represent Conecuh County in the statewide program.
The two will be participating in the program set for Jan. 24 and 25 in Montgomery at the Frazer Church.
The representatives are already in Montgomery for the program staying with host families on the days leading up to the program’s culmination on Saturday evening.
Jenna Fountain currently attends T.R. Miller High School in Brewton. Her parents are Jeff and Angel Fountain. She is active in many activities including concert and marching bands (flute; majorette), volunteering for Brewton Reborn projects, and being an ambassador for the City of Brewton as a Blueberry Trail Maid. Jenna was chosen to represent Conecuh County in July and has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming State Program.
Edie Walker, also a student at T.R. Miller High School, She is active in the T.R. Miller Marching Tiger Band as a member of the color guard, has served as a Girls State representative and is currently serving as a Blueberry Trail Maid.
Results of the state program winners will be announced Jan. 25.
